We install cloakrooms from £3,500, all the way up to full scale luxury bathrooms that could cost £10,000+ this service includes all custom design, planning and the co-ordination of many skilled tradesmen covering lots of disciplines such as Plumbing, Tiling, Plastering, Joinery, Floor laying, Painting, Electrics ect.
Very low Estimates, tendered by people in order to secure the work against realistic quotes often leads to prices being added in for “Extras” as the work progresses.
Our service includes fully itemised estimates that allows you to see in advance all the costs that you will incur, as well as any potential costs that may arise.
High quality workmanship, which may initially ‘Cost’ more because it takes longer to do things properly. This represents good Value as it ensures a Quality Bathroom Installation that will last for many years. Bad workmanship, which may cost less initially, may represent poor value, if it then necessitates work being redone at a greater expense and inconvenience to you at a later date.
Many people are often surprised to hear that the suite or furniture you choose is not the main expenditure in a bathroom renovation.
If you choose a cheaper suite or less expensive toilet for example, the labour will still be the same. It’s the same job to fit a toilet whether it’s a top end designer WC or a budget option.
The layout of the bathroom is the big factor in the bathrooms budget. If you are simply replacing the suite for a new one, and your toilet, shower, bath and basin will be in the same position, then the costs will be lower.
That said, investing for a 5-10% increase in your spend on a new bathroom fitting will offer you a far better bathroom as a result. We will like to call this ‘intelligent spending’.
If you are planning a complete change and moving items around to make better use of your Space, then you should plan a larger budget.
The truth is..........it depends on many factors.
The general rule of thumb for a family size bathroom installation is generally 10-15 working days. Any shorter, then the fitters are probably cutting some corners somewhere along the line which is obviously a bad sign.
Now l must emphasise, that the time taken really does depend on what’s involved. If you are just having your sanitary ware replaced and there is no tiling work involved then you are probably looking at 3-5 working days, but if you are going for mosaic tiles everywhere in the bathroom then it will obviously take much longer.
We have installed hundreds of bathrooms over the years, so we have a pretty good understanding of what’s involved. However each installation is unique and might come with its own challenges.
In the next pages I will walk you through the basic steps involved in the process of a typical bathroom refurbishement so you can understand what actually happens and why it takes the time it really does.
The example given on the next page is based on a work force of:
1 Plumber
1 Labourer
1 Tiler
1 Electrician
1 Plasterer
The old bathroom is stripped out completely to include ; Old tiles, bath, shower, taps, toilet, basin, pipe work, electrical cables etc and bringing the walls and floor back to brick and concrete or wood.
To get that showroom finish its vital that everything is flat and straight to begin with. It makes a big difference to the overall finish.
This is basically running all the cooper pipes, waste pipes, taps and cables so they can run inside the walls and ceilings as opposed to outside!
During this stage of the installation, we will expose any floors or walls that require pipe work and cables to be hidden out of sight for a seemless final look.
Now we need to make sure that all the walls, ceilings and floors are level and straight. We prepare the surfaces in the right way once electrical wiring and any plumbing is in place and we re-plasterboard the walls and plaster the ceiling. This gives it that really smooth finish and it’s the perfect base to work from. If it’s a concrete floor then we make sure it’s flat and as level as possible. Wooden floorboards or chipboard floors are prepared in a way that makes sure they are flat and strong, ready for your new flooring.
If this preparation stage is not carried out properly, it affects the rest of the job in a negative way. That's why you should allow at least 1-3 days. The timing can vary during this period as we have to allow for the plaster to fully dry, otherwise walls will crack and you could experience damp issues later on.
Your bath or shower tray are usually fitted at the end of this stage as they need to be installed before any tiling is done.
This is where the bathroom starts to take shape as the tiles bring the new bathroom to life. We normally allow at least 2 full days for this part.
Tiling is an art form and should never be rushed as the process will make or break a bathroom in terms of the final finish.
We are now at the stage where we will fit everything that needs to be fitted. We will install your toilet, hang your basin, your shower, bath and accessories.
FINISHING.....we invest a great deal of time and attention to ensure your new installation is finished to the highest standards, making certain that you are completely satisfied and enjoy your new bathroom for many years.
